Who Are We?

We are a small group of students attending the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada. BzzrGardens.com is in no way affiliated with the University or any of its subsidiaries. We're just a bunch of kids who like our bzzr, and want to share that with you lot.

What's The Deal With This Site?

We think bzzr is a beautiful thing, and if we can share that, great. If we can introduce you to new bzzrs you've never tried, or help you better enjoy the bzzr you're already drinking, or help you throw a more successful bzzr garden, even better.

We do this because it's fun. We're paying for the web hosting and all that nonsense out of our own pockets, so if you see someone in a BzzrGardens.com t-shirt at a bzzr garden, buy them a bzzr!

What The Heck Is "Bzzr"?

Many years ago, the RCMP and the university bigwigs at UBC decided to crack down on drinking on the UBC campus. One of the new rules they imposed stated that students could no longer advertise the availability of alcohol at social functions.

Under this rule, putting the word "BEER" on a poster would get the event shut down. However, the word "BZZR" was perfectly acceptable, and thus a tradition was born.

In that spirit, bzzrgardens.com is dedicated to an idea that's been around as long as there have been universities: that beer is a wonderful thing, and that any student wishing to make it part of his/her university experience should be able to do so.

C'mon... Aren't you guys just promoting alcoholism?

No, and here's why: Students who don't learn to use alcohol responsibly tend to fail out of school with a quickness. That's bad. From there, it's a short slide to getting stuck in a crappy dead-end job, and spending every night in front of the TV with a six-pack of crappy beer. That's just bloody awful.

A few rules of thumb, then:

• BzzrGardens.com encourages, nay, demands, the responsible and legal use of alcohol.
   
• Drinking and driving is never, ever okay. Yeah, we mean you, jackass.
   
• If you're under legal drinking age, BzzrGardens.com is to be used for research ONLY.
   
• Always return your empties. It keeps the price of beer down. Seriously.
   

How Do I Get My Bzzr Reviewed On BzzrGardens.com?

It's pretty simple. Every two weeks, six BzzrGardens.com reviewers sit down with several beers, and publish the results online shortly thereafter. You provide us with six of the beer you'd like us to review, we'll publish six students' opinions and tasting notes in a feature review.

We're not doing this to make money - we all have other jobs, and don't have the time to run this as a business venture.

That said, if your company is interested in sponsoring our web-hosting for a month ($15.00 CAD) we'll be happy to thank you with a banner ad displayed on every article on the site.

We're still a new site, so we'll need a month or two yet before we can provide accurate page-view statistics.
